Keeping a queen without a test tube.

So today 2 queen elates (lasius niger) just walked into my house and i decided i would try to found a colony from them (this is my first attempt at it and honestly i never planned to get a colony this soon but when opportunity walks in twice then why not) however i am woefully under equipped for this, right now their housed inside some clean takeaway containers with a moist cotton ball for water and a couple pinpricks for air and stored them in a dark corner of my room. Due to personal circumstances im not able to buy any equipment for them for a few months so what im asking is would the current "set up" be suitable for them for that time and if so are there any tips or advice or should i just release them and try again next year?

the set up is fine as long as you water the cotton regularly about twice a week and keep her in the dark.
