3/8 inch (9.5mm) Ant In VA 9/29

Looks Like a worker to me, and it is 9.5mm long, and found 9/29 in VA In my backyard (Basically a field but there i like 7 trees.)

Looks like a queen, I don't know what she is, but she looks like Strumgenys or Pogonomerex. Pogos aren't native to many parts of Virginia, if I recall.

Definitely not myrmica, it isn't smalll or dark enough. Maybe lasius flavus? worker?

Looked it up. She appears to be Temnothorax americanus, the acorn ant. She's a slave-making, social parasite queen, so if you gave her some brood, they'd most likely become her workers.

No, she is WAY too big to be temnothorax

temno is 4mm max, she is over twice that size.
