Mature ant colony ID’s

Hi all,

I’ve managed to capture two mature ant colonies that were becoming pests in my locality of Cairns, Qld, Australia.

I’m hoping I could get an ID on both.

The first is this colony:

There is 3 queens in this colony, and the workers are polymorphic. They have Banding in their abdomen and I believe they maybe some sort of Camponotus sp. The workers range from 7mm to around 13mm for majors. Queens around 15mm. They were living in a old plastic swimming pool in my yard.

The next colony I just caught today, living under a pot plant indoors. Workers are monomorphic, around 3mm in size, queen is not much bigger. I’m thinking maybe ghost ants?

Thanks in advance 😁

That second colony looks really cool, how do you catch colonies so efficiently?
