my ants are getting stuck in the cotton in the test tube that i have placed in the otworld.
is there any solution for this not to happen because i had to entagle a worker that have been there for 2 days now. he still has some cotton strings left on him but now he can walk atleast. and he is not getting entageld by him self, or he is atleast trying to but he gets exhausted and takes a brake after a couple of minutes. the other workers have been trying to pull him back to the nest but with no sucess. so is there anything wrong im doing to my test tubes set upps? im housing them in one aswell but i dont think that they get stuck ing that one only in the one in the outwolrd.
im keeping messor barbarus btw.
pls help its my first colony and i dont want the workers to die of one by one.

The wet cotton or the cotton leading outside?

the wet cotton because they are chewing on it and trying to drag it...

Sounds like one of four things: the ants are hungry, the ants need more space, the ants are stressed out, or the ants need more water. For now I would suggest giving them a bit of food and an extra wet cotton ball outside the entrance to the nest. Can you send a picture of your setup, or at least describe it to me?

5 things. The ants want to bring the cotton strands into their nest to act as a substrate so that their larvae can spin cacoons. Or to block off the opening of their test tube.
Keeping:
Tetramorium immigrans * Lasius Neoniger * Lasius Claviger * Messor Aciculatus * Myrmica Rubra * Camponotus Novaeboracensis * Camponotus Turkastanus * Pheidole Pallidula
