also i have to say maybe my new colony is solenopsis geminata which will be good because its native but it may also be solenopsis invicta which will be bad because its not a native species ill try to identify her

hello i need help there are some white things growing over the dirt of my fire ants they look like cotton what shall i do , are they harmful? shall i move my fire ants out? please help

i think it is a saprophytic fungus so it may not be harmful

random white fluffy stuff growing on your soil? Usually fungus. You can try to remove it by removing the soil around with a spoon but it's no guarantee that it won't come back. I myself have literally stopped getting pieces of wood into my setups (unless I was keeping camponodus which I'm currently not). Had one that was slowly molding away even in a dry setup that was rarely moistened. And another one I was preparing for an expansion about half a year later where there would just grow a lot of molt all over. Remove the top layer of soil where it was growing with about 1cm of depth removed and I haven't seen it grow back yet.
