Massive nupital flight in Australia in the state of Victoria. I caught about ten queens. They look to be of the Iridomyrmex “rainbow ants” genus. They were just wondering and flying all over the place many with males. I saw it happened in the Maryborough region of VIC.

As man! I live in michigan and my dream colony is a big headed ant colony. But then again, if i have them then they will be an invasive species in my area tho.
Ant Colonies I Own :

(Prenolepis imparis)--Subzero

(Tetramorium immigrans)--The Concrete Angles

Most ants in my area are still in hibernation. :?
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]

Lucky! I believe I might have two Pheidole queens they haven’t laid yet though.

Yeah I may have got too excited and collected to many queens. However pheidole are polygynous so I am trying to start a couple of multi-queen colonies.

That’s true I definitely got carried away as well but good thing is they are native so you can always release them back to the wild.

Lucky, I’ve been searching all over for Bullants I found a few when I was down suburbia way (all workers though) but now I’m back in the countryside and I don’t find as many down here unfortunately. Happened that Pheidole also had a nuptial flight in VIC too I found a queen today.
