hello, I plan to purchase a light for my soon to be ants (also if anyone is selling lasius neoniger for cheapish, hmu) and was wondering if its the right kind of light?

If it's a small founding colony in a tube they don't need light at all. If they will have a foraging area, and you want to simulate day/night cycles, I would say that's fine, as the night bulb will allow you to observe them in the dark with minimal discomfort to the ants. The lighting would be more for aesthetics and ease of viewing for you, than any benefit for the ants, as they can live in complete darkness. I personally use LED grow lights, as I also propagate small plants in the summer in my Lasius' outworld.
