Cabbo's Ant Journal

Post: # 69301Post CabboAntsGuy

HEllO everyone! I've seen a lot of other people on here doing this and I thought I might as well give it a try. This will be my official journal and I shall try to keep it up to date. (honestly I hope I'm not on it too much).

As my signature says I currently keep 3 Camponotus Pennsylvanicus queens, and two Formica Subsericea (at least I think that's what they are). My young fledgling colony is currently nine workers strong, with some very big larvi in their tube. They are housed in a tube(non AC, sorry) that is connected to an AC ant tower small. They are still choosing to stay in the tube, but do sometimes scavenge around the world.
My other colonies are all still at the egg stage. None of them have larvi yet, but I am hoping that they will have workers soon as-well.

One resent development for me was receiving some more gear. I ordered a heat cable and 50 test tubes for more queens. Besides that Not much else. Anyone is able to post here, feel free to share any thoughts and comments. Ant Love Forever. (will be trying to include pictures soon)

I hope those work.
Awesome! They look great!

If you click the little picture with the mountain and sun it will come out like this: [img ] [ /img] note:I added spaces so it would show.
Paste your imgur link between it and the image will show up on the post and not just a link. Also if you preview your post you will see what it will look like after submitting.
Hope that helps!

Update:
I moved my entire set up (colony and other queens) into my basement earlier today and attached the heat cable. I hope that it's in an ok spot. I kinda have it wrapped around the bottom of the ant tower, and draped over the water portion of the test tube.

So strange it’s not showing on your post but when I quote I can see your link and I typed it into my browser and can see it. I’ll repost the link so it shows now:

Ya as long as they have a place that’s cooler so they can move brood closer or further away as needed. Are they in the test tube? If so for now just have the cable going perpendicular to the tube (like across it not the length of it). Just use the tower as a foraging area for now.

Update-
MY colony is growing! They have 6 or 7 pupae now and many more eggs and larvi on the way. My other two C. queens also have a few pupae. I'm excited for my other colonies to get workers but i'm worried about taking care of all of them, I hope I'll be able to. The heat cable has been working quite well I think, and I always see water droplets on the roof of the tube.
Hope your all well,
