Re: minimal amount of ants that can be placed in a formicarium
depends on the size of the ants and the size of the nest. What species are you planning to move and and how big is your nest?
2 x iridomyrmex sp Queen:15+ workers
2 x iridomyrmex pallidus: 40+ workers
1 x pheidole megacephala:2 queen 300 workers.
1 x opisthopsis Queen: 14 workers

If i were you i would wait till 20-30 workers. You could move them in but there is a real risk they won't be be happy.
if your nest if ytong or something similar, you could fill more then half of the nest up with a dry substrate and they will expand at there own pace.

Ok, for one, Formica fusca is not found anywhere in North America. Two, you should really do some research and get your ant identified by a more experienced keeper. Formica queens rarely exceed 12 millimeters, and is impossible to have one get to a length of 2 centimeters, or 20 millimeters. Workers of Formica tend to stay at 4-7 millimeters (10 millimeters to a centimeter). Come on, guys. Is it really that hard to do some research? And your queen is most definitely (by your description and where it was collected) Camponotus. Here is a key to North American ant species. https://www.antwiki.org/wiki/Key_to_North_American_Genera_of_Formicinae
