minimal amount of ants that can be placed in a formicarium

what is the minimal amount of ants you can place in the formicarium? because i heard that if you put the ants in the formicarium too soon then they will die

Depends on the species. Tetramorium needs up to 30 to be safe, but with larger species you could do less. What do you have?

I would say just keep them in their current setup until they seem to need more space - just wait and don't rush it!
