How long can ants survive without insects?

I have tetrimorium sp. Immigrans and my mom won't let me buy mealworms or other insects. Can the ants survive without insects and just live off of meat, egg, and honey?

Some colonies can eat other things than insects and a good part of this community is always on the hunt for nore choices. If you want to find alternative food options just browse the ant diet and nutrition sub forum and you will find this topic posted over and over again.

As for how long they will survive, probably up to 6 months for that species if they were starved of all protein.

Lucky for you terrorism immgrans is not a very picky eater and will eat just about everything. Though if you want a good alternative to insects ask your mom if you can have freeze dried mealworms. They are cheap, last forever and aren't alive which helps if you don't like other insects or don't want to kill anything.
