Well, it’s been in the 80 F range for a while now, and the absolutely HUGE super colony of ants at my school show no sign of slowing down.

Hello!

How many ants does your colony have? Also since your school has a bigger colony that might affect productivity in winter because they have more workers to support the queen.

Larger colonies need to perform far more work to gather a big enough food reserve to get them through hibernation. That might explain their activities.

Just counted, five workers. No brood, haven’t seen any for a while.

Hmmmmmm... Lol I was going to say if you have fed your ants but... look at the title of this forum  . Have you tried placing some heat around the tube? That might activate them. If you do just make sure that they don't overheat.

You can buy heating mats for example? They probably have them at your local pet shop

Well place them near a radiator or a heat source?

friend of mine uses his router/hub to warm a few of his insect enclosures also as for heat mats you can pick up a small 5w one for about a fiver on amazon
1x Lasius Niger - early forging stage - 60-100 workers
1x Messor Barbarus - founding stage - <20 workers
1x Camponotus Turkestanus - claustral stage - 1 nanitic + brood
1x Odontoponera Transversa - semi-claustral stage - no eggs
