Winter flights?

Hello!

Sorta new to this hobby, sorta not, but I was getting ready to go for a bike ride and I noticed that a colony of citronella ants are beginning their nuptial flights today. Down side? It's about to snow here in Colorado and I am curious if this is a common practice for this species? Attempted to upload a picture via phone, but I keep getting the error that the file is too large.

Thanks!

I did not. All of the queens still had their wings. Thousands of queens and males were taking off for the flight though. Might have to go for a walk tomorrow.

Oops. I have a few in test tubes. Awaiting the first arrivals now. Although they might be going in the fridge soon.
