Hey, I want to keep ants but not just in a normal way .I would like to make my Formicarium out of LEGO. I am well on the way but my main question is how high should the living space be of the ants ?

It depends if you're making an outworld or a nest. Love the idea by the way.

If you're making an outworld, It could be any where from 8inch to a foot and a half.

If you're making a nest, there should be no more than an inch from top to bottom.

What are you using for the top of the nest so you can see them? also I would not try using really small ants so be careful. I would love to see how the hydration system works, and how you connect it to tubes.

Sounds really cool be sure to keep us updated

Work is in progress. I builded my nest out of Lego🤗 I don't know why but I just can't add any fotos to my message... The drinking system works just like normal with a sponge locked in place en surrounded bij blocks. The main thing is that I used as many blocks as I can so the water could be available for the ants. I will use a acrylic plate to put on top so I can look at them. To close it up again I worked out a Lego mechanism that allows you to open and close it so it's not to much light for the ants. The tubing is made out of round hollow Lego blocks so the ants can transport, I am just not sure if it is big enough for 1 queen to walk trough 🤔 can anyone help me with the foto/picture issue?

I was going to suggest imgur too. Then once you have your pictures downloaded on there you can copy the link and paste it between these: [img] paste here

To get the “img” part click the button above your post that looks like a picture with mountain and a sun.

Hope that helps.
