Pheidole hunting Springtails?

Hello people,
I have noticed over the last couple weeks what seems to me a strange behavior, though it may indeed be normal behavior, as i am not an expert.
The ants that i have the opportunity to care for are Pheidole Dentigula (pretty sure).
Lately I've notice ants foraging in a different way on the rotten log protruding up and out of the moss.
When they come close to a Springtail, they lunge forward, missing most of the time. Until bamm! A lucky, and quick ant had one in its clutches, and took it to the nest!
Hours more watching, and it happened again today, same thing... 1. What seems deliberate searching. 2. Capture and return home.

Can any of you confirm this, and give me more info?
Is it normal behavior in various ant species?
I need a better camera i think.

They might actually herd the springtails underground to help them deal with their waste and as a food source of course. * imaginary 'clever girl' meme

Not exactly sure what is wrong with the server, but heard that before. I only get notifications when I am quoted.
I just surf to the site and then go to 'my posts' anything that lights up red, has new entries.

How do i thank or "thumbs up" a post? Is that the "!"?
Out of curiosity, is there a way to see the number of active members?
The options for this set up seem a bit limited. Other forums I've been on are much better, more user friendly.. though admittedly im far from tech-savvy.

With the (!) You can report a post for being inappropriate for instance. The forum hasn't got a rating system for post as far as I am aware, but I know what you mean.

You can see which other users are browsing the same tabs as you at the bottom of the screen, but I don't think that is the total number
