Can ants see through red plastic film?

I've searched google and asked on a couple of forums, but haven't been able to get an answer to this so maybe it is just a dumb question. I watched a video that said ants couldn't see light through red plastic film, but the guy making the video said he was really new to this too so not sure. Here is the video. He says it about 8 min and 40 seconds in.

Hewwo, I'm also new at this and have been using red acetate on my test tube setups and around the nest I have one of the colonies in.
I don't know if they actually can't see through it but I have noticed that they react less to being moved out of the darkness of the box the test tubes are usually kept in when I'm checking on them, so there's that.
