collected on sidewalk near some grass in Langley BC Canada

found late September 20-25 (sorry its been a while)

habitat: grass or forested area

11mm long

dark red black in color

I'm not sure, very generic, no spike or large protrusions, smooth, thorax isn't as exaggerated as many other species

caught very late and so only started laying niantics about 3 weeks ago

i have no idea what the nest looked like i'm guessing just a hole near the sidewalk

i did not witness the nuptial flight however it was over by the time i caught her

i couldn't figure out the file attachment: ill link imgur instead

https://imgur.com/a/Vcbg0G4

if more images are need i can try harass her again for more

thanks guys I'm new to all this so if someone could link me a guide for that species

She is from the genus Formica.
Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.
