The genera Camponotus, Formica, Lasius, and Tetramorium are all common and easy to keep.

Welcome! We have an overload of Tetramorium Immigrans here , they are quick growing, easy to keep, and easy to find in June.
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Thanks idahoantgirl, I recently caught some camponotus queens, 2 without wings and 3 with wings. I was wondering If those were common in Idaho?

Hoping to establish a healthy Camponotus colony :D

Yeah, there are 11 species native to Idaho according to http://antmaps.org/?mode=diversity&genus=Camponotus. Have any pictures?
