I have a new lasius niger colony, and the outworld it will be kept in will need a protective barrier. What can I use for to make the outworld escape proof?

Order some fluon or PTFE online. byFormica brand is the best. Carefully follow the instructions for applying it, and you should be good to go.

I strictly use baby powder and it has yet to fail. Plus it's easy to buy lol.
Research is important before during and even after you have established a colony. There is always time to learn and to listen to others experiences. Live by this and your ants will thrive. Fail to do so and your experience may be brief.

Okay, these are two good options to keep ants inside their formicarium. Thank you for the advice.

Would baby powder work for a lasius niger colony? Lasius niger are quite good at climbing. The current colony is currently small, would they be able to pass the barrier?

I keep Lasius Niger and to date I have had no issues with baby powder on its own.
Regardless of size (nanitic or fully developed) it works great.
If it helps I left an ant tower open for an hour and the colony was active and no one could get out.

Okay, thank you for the help, I will consider getting baby powder, because it is easy to get.

I made my own outworld, and cut the holes for tubing roughly, what can I use to block them up, so that the ants cannot escape through there?
