Hey man this colony sounds great! Love the updates on it. Maybe disturbing them slightly less may help? Just maybe let a few workers show up?

I am sorry to say this colony has died

Re: Antsrule's Camponotus Subbarbatus Colony.
I know I'm two years late to the show, and it's unfortunate your subbarbatus colony died. I have one subbarbatus queen and two workers who survived their first captive hibernation, after I found her in a wood fragment last summer in central Iowa. I'm not sure she will survive either. It seems this species is super super sensitive, and not very robust in captivity. I'm curious if you ever found more queens of this species? There's very little info about them online or in books (Mark Deyrup's Ants of Florida is the most informative I can find), so keeping these guys for study is a big opportunity to teach everybody more about them--including me.
