Campontus

Hi my name is Greg
I have a Queen Camponotus that I caught 10 months ago. She’s going great laying eggs and hatching, but the numbers don’t seem to be growing much, why would this be?
Am I able to introduce ants from another colony?
What are the best foods for her and the workers?
Cheers 😀

Camponotus ants simply don't grow very quickly. They also don't tolerate new ants that aren't from their colony well, so you can't add more ants. The best foods for any kind of ant colony are:
1. Honey or diluted honey.
2. Sugar water (use in place of honey if you do use it).
3. Insects or other terrestrial arthropods (preferably a variety, but ants are generally very accepting of many foods).

Basically, ants need a protein source for their brood, and a sugar source for sustaining the adults. Some people even use cooked meat table scraps for their ants' protein source.

Hope this helps,
Mark
First year and already enjoying it!

Founding:
1 Solenopsis molesta colony with ~10 nanitic workers and lots of brood

Hi
Is it possible to have two new Green Head Queens sharing the same nesting space (inside a plastic tissue box with lid).
There is only one test tube with water at the moment, that one Queen is occupying.
There is a drop of honey a small piece of apple and a small piece of meat.
I’m guessing that the best Queen will survive??
