Does winged queens mean there is a queen producing??

I have taken in a colony of Odontomachus relictus see the story on them in my earlier post but anyways they were taken in without knowing if a had caught the queen too. I have seen a winged queen come out and look for a place to take off. Does this mean their is a queen producing? I know some species can pick certain workers to become queens but im not sure if its the same with winged ones or this spices does that at all.

Thanks for the help :D

Odontomachus cannot have gammergates. also When did you take the colony? If you took the colony during there nuptial flight season or before that alate could have come with the colony.

well the alate that you saw is most likely from when you caught them. keep a look out for brood because that is a good sign of a queen.
