Hi, I'm new.

I don't own any ants yet but I am planning to try once I move out of my parent's place after my family moves to New York upstate. We are moving to Watertown around fort drum. After which I will be searching for a place of my own. I am a huge ant enthusiast and also a PC game developer as a small time hobby. I actually am planning on making a ant game for PC and a free download at that. Hopefully my efforts in unity will manage to produce something decent. Anyways thanks for having me everyone!

Hello to all. It might be a bit late since I joined a few days ago but I'm glad to be part of the AntsCanada community. I myself am kinda busy trying to help people with their antcolonies even tho I'm not a specialist in any way I still try to give general advices and help everyone even with antspecies which are unknown to me.

This way I will keep learning more about the ants of this planet and help the community.

I have currently a Messor Barbarus colony and the queen seems quite busy laying eggs and I am glad she does because the bigger she gets the sooner I can attach a first outworld to their setup to offer them some space or at least a garbage side. :D

I'm also trying to create many kinds of decorations like small bowls from cherry seeds or peach seeds. I even try to craft a big plate out of a mango seed shell which probably will be the hardest one for me yet. But I already found out loads by trying diffrent offerings and i found out they eat all kinds of fruitseeds I offer them. They even bring those straight to the queen. :D

For those interested in watching them live on twitch you can just go again and follow their progress whenever you like. The stream currently has no music since I have only one computer which can manage proper streaming but I already got something previewed as the streaming machine for the antstreams. ;D

Well I will try to help as good as possible with all the questions in the care taking section and hope to perhaps get some sort of rank which could label me as such a supporter. :D

I actually found out that I really love keeping ants and I'm putting a lot of effort into this. haha :D
Do you perchance have an address or link for the live stream of your ants?

Yes. I'm streaming on Twitch and export the videos to Youtube if I got the time. Both channels are called AntsLuxembourg. Here are the links :D

At the moment I'm streaming not every day but I do show some of my colonies in their testtubes. Mainly the lasius Niger colony which will be shown much more often 2019 after hibernation. Hopefully the PC will work again.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

Currently not keeping any ants anymore.

*Hopefully the new PC I ordered via a crowdfunding campaign got enough power to run the stream in 4 k or at least 1080p with a couple of cameras.

Oh I'm so excited to get the PC to prepare and test everything. :D
That would be awesome. :)

I'm glad to be here, i have two new queens which seem to be formica. I currently house them inside common food containers. One container has a regular queen, yet the other has a queen which has a (dead) monomorium antarcticum worker clamped on her leg. the containers also include dry plants and a little sprinkling of sand. im hoping they both do well and produce their pioneering workers.

Hello AntsCanada and all Ant lovers!

Hi all, and greetings from England! I'm new to Ant keeping but have been fascinated by Ants since childhood - they are so cool! I have a new colony (just coming out of their 1st hibernation) of Camponotus Ligniperda, currently a Queen and 6 workers, they have survived the winter and hopefully will start multiplying soon! Any advice gratefully received!
