Okay so seeing her again I can confirm she is 100% not lasius. The antenna curve is completely wrong.

Current theories in order of likelihood

brachymyrmex
paratechnica
prenolepis

Can you possibly get any pics of the petiole?
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Brachymyrmex depilis
That makes me so happy that I was right about the genus again the eyes aren't so great. However im curious what makes it depilis? I'm amazed the quality was good enough for an accurate ID

Oops depilis - without hair

B. depilis is the only species from the genus which lives that far north.

And there's my new fact for the day learned. It also appears upon first search there's not much reading on brachymyrmex besides subterranean and likes 'underground bugs' I'm not sure if that's a technical term but I'm assuming fruit flies should be accepted. Also if you could point me in a general direction for info that would be appreciated... not necessary but appreciated lol

On a another note. I find it odd that I found a queen weren't their nuptials between may and July?
