Formica subsericea flew yesterday in northern IL. Many queens still out searching for the perfect spot to found a colony.
Rained a lot yesterday though. Solenopsis Molesta flew two days ago.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

In Northern IL I’ve been seeing myrmica alates the last few days and finding them in the pool. Some species must have flown recently.
