Also how big do the Pheidole colonies get?AntsOfOntario wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 9:14 amThere isn't an exact size for them but the average species size is about the same as the one you have there. I can't really see that well from the photo, but that could very well be Pheidole. Head is quite large for Tetramorium, or maybe I'm wrong

Now she has 7 nanitics ! One is exploring by the cotton and is being braver than the rest of the colony ! Still not sure if she’s a tetramorium or Pheidole! Here is a pic! sorry if it’s too far my dad took it

They also have a pretty large brood pile so I’m expecting some more workers in the next few days.

Here is a better pic! If you can see she actually has 8 workers ! One is under her! The eighth is at the cotton!
They doubled in size in 2 days !! They’re all just hanging by the queen, she copped up an entire spider while the nanitics were too afraid to go near it !

It depends on species. They can range from a few hundred to 10s of thousands.Ltislander wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 1:27 pmAlso how big do the Pheidole colonies get?AntsOfOntario wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 9:14 amThere isn't an exact size for them but the average species size is about the same as the one you have there. Pheidole pallidula is non-existent in North America.AntsOfOntario wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 9:14 amThere isn't an exact size for them but the average species size is about the same as the one you have there. I thought so. But I’ve seen some black Pheidole ants around here in Massachusetts. I have a nest in my backyard and sometimes see the majors.AntsDakota wrote: ↑Sun Aug 26, 2018 2:21 pmPheidole pallidula is non-existent in North America.AntsOfOntario wrote: ↑Tue Aug 21, 2018 9:14 amThere isn't an exact size for them but the average species size is about the same as the one you have there. I'm hesitant to ID without closer pictures.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.
