Finally something else after 30 tetramorium! Qc/Canada
I found this little girl this morning after work around 6am (best time in my opinion to catch queens).

She's around 10-12mm and is pretty big compared to my other tetramorium I was a bit surprise by how big and fast she was. I'm still pretty new to the ant world so I really have no idea what species she is even after looking on google
thx in advance!

Lasius alienus possibly? I've found Lasius alienus in Montreal this time of year before. My finds were mid day, not early though.

It's been discovered that the ants we thought were Lasius alienus in North America are actually unrelated to the original Eurasian species, and we now call them Lasius americanus, which I think this queen is. Those measurements are pretty big, though. Are you sure they are accurate?

I didn't know Lasius flew this early.

This is the one easy part of North American Lasius identification, because L. americanus are the only claustral Lasius to fly from July until mid-August.

Maybe this photo will help more I don't have any good camera around here and I said 7-8 mm last night but its more like 9-10mm ( its really hard to tell since she's in a mason jar) I would remove her to measure but she already started laying eggs in less than 24 hours after capturing her.

She is Lasius americanus, without a doubt.
