I meant more specific to these. I'd imagine they have some differences considering its covers in snow 60%of the year.

Camponotus herculeanus seems to have fast development. 10 of my queens of this species all got their first workers in 1 month 10 days.

Thanks for the info! She's in her test tube and in the dark. Do you live in alaska as well?

I have two camponotus hurculeanus queens. Queen 1 and 2 are about a week apart as far as when I placed them in their test tubes.

They are both laying eggs. Queen 1 has a small clust of eggs and started about a week after I put her in her tube. Queen two has laid a ton of eggs and they're kinda scattered.

My question is, is there any way to know if they are fertile? Can I put a toothpick tip of honey in for them?

They've been in tubes for 2-3 weeks.
