How To Identify Ants
Re: Antnests c. pennsylvanicus journal
sorry i have not updated in a while but sadly when my grandparents were over my dog got under my bed and ripped up the tissues in the setup. luckily the glass test tube did not break but she got really shaken up. because of this the next day i saw two piles of ant worker parts . she still has eggs though i don't know if my queen will make another attempt of remaking a colony. i hope she makes it.

Sorry man, that blows...
Re: Antnests c. pennsylvanicus journal
she is still alive but all the brood she has left is 3 eggs and 4 small larvae. I gave her some honey and some soaked dead mealworm

Since you are the only person who comments my post, I came to yours. There is an intense history of survival full of downs and ups. I subscribe.
Why do you ever think she is able to restart a colony? Maybe it could work, if you add to her a wild worker. I saw ant keeper who did it. He soaked a worker ant then put to a test tube there queen was. The worker got back to normal and she accepted him

she might make it on her own but yes a worker would help. i only know of one carpenter ant nest which is in a alive oak tree and in my neighbors house so i don't think they would let me cut down this 50-100 year old tree for 10 ant pupae. but then thinking about it i remember that in mikeys ant video about how to get ants out of your house he said that vinegar gets rid of ant pharamone. so would dumping a worker ant in vinegar for 10 minuets get rid of it's colony scent? and even if it does would the worker remember it and still kill my queen? so many questions. and i know that water would not work. that would mean every time it rains and a nest floods the colony would disband

Re: Antnests c. pennsylvanicus journal
Dipping ant into vinegar sounds more like a culinary recipe than a useful advise. It can probably kill him. Maybe drowning then it rains really breaks a pheromone bounds between the ants. I really don't know why, but the method worked. Thought, it doesn't worth the risks.antnest8 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 21, 2018 3:33 pmshe might make it on her own but yes a worker would help. i only know of one carpenter ant nest which is in a alive oak tree and in my neighbors house so i don't think they would let me cut down this 50-100 year old tree for 10 ant pupae. but then thinking about it i remember that in mikeys ant video about how to get ants out of your house he said that vinegar gets rid of ant pharamone. so would dumping a worker ant in vinegar for 10 minuets get rid of it's colony scent? and even if it does would the worker remember it and still kill my queen? so many questions. and i know that water would not work. that would mean every time it rains and a nest floods the colony would disband
