Hi all,
I caught 3 queens today. 95% Sure they are all the same species. They are all about 8-9mm in length. Colour is slightly off-yellowish - especially the gasters.

I agree with L. Neoniger. She will not lay eggs till after hibernation.

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Where were you finding them? If I may ask? They are usually in woody areas?AntsOntario wrote: ↑Thu Sep 14, 2017 8:47 pmCreamtogaster was everywhere for the last 3 days. Hope you caught one!

Actually, they're normally on sidewalks. I often go to open areas that have forests beside them, because I find that a lot of queens mate, then walk onto the sidewalk to break off their wings. This week I've found these queens on my patio, sidewalks & even driveways haha! Try looking between 5 - 9 PM when the afternoon heat is gone, and many colonies will be commencing their nuptial flights.ceez05 wrote: ↑Fri Sep 15, 2017 2:07 pmWhere were you finding them?
