These ants are quite small (2mm in length), so I designed a Hybrid nest just for them with narrow and shallow passages and chambers. The shallowness of the passages and chambers allow for better viewing of these smaller ants as it puts them right up next to the viewing glass.

This colony is about 1 year old with one queen and at last count (2 weeks ago) had a little over 200 workers. I suspect the colony size is approaching 300 now as the colony has a huge number of brood. I have been feeding them crushed dry cat food, crickets, and cookie crumbs. Due to their small size, they have been a little problematic to keep contained. I think I have plugged all the holes now though.

I kept them in a test tube until they had 50 workers or so and a large brood then connected them to the new Hybrid nest. The outworld (damaged) is from an Omni Nest Large and has worked out perfectly for them. A few pictures for your viewing pleasure.

I really like that hybrid nest design. Is there any way I could get it at all?

This is a custom-made nest design I created just for my Monomorium errrr, Tetramorium, bringing them closer to the surface of the glass since they are so small. We may be bringing something like this to the AC Store within a few months.

Wow, that's pretty funny that you raised a colony the whole time thinking it was tetramorium! :D
Hope you have luck with other colonies too!

How are they doing?
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

Thanks for asking. I need to upload some new pics and or video of this colony. They are doing quite well! I would estimate the colony size to be 2,000 to 3,000 strong. Their setup consists of a Hybrid large (6" x 6") and a prototype of our new Hybrid large (8" x 8") along with one outworld. They could probably use another outworld soon as well.

Here's the latest update on my Tetramorium colony. This colony is about 2 1/2 years old. They are doing great! I now have them in a couple prototypes of our new Formica Hybrid Nest. Just testing it out...
