Would appreciate it if this species could be identified although I'm pretty sure they are Pheidole sp. They are about 7-8mm long

This one is most likely Iridomyrmex sp. Again 7-8mm

This colony had 5 workers but 4 of them died and the brood don't look to good...

So in Australia it is currently winter so some of my ants have curled up. This one sort of looks dead though as it had a sort of web around it.

There is also this weird bug everywhere in my yard where ants are...

Re: A Few Aussie Ant Queens M8
I agree with Pheidole for the first queens.
I'm a little rusty with Australian ants, but Iridomyrmex looks right for the second two. It's easier to identify the workers, especially when viewed from the side.
The third ant looks like a ponerine species.
And the little 'bug' very much looks like a springtail.

If you enjoy my expertise and identifications, please do not put wild populations at risk of disease by releasing pet colonies. We are responsible to give our pets the best care we can manage for the rest of their lives.

Ok, Thanks! Do you think the ponerine sp. queen is dead? It has sort of a web around it...Batspiderfish wrote: ↑Sat Aug 12, 2017 9:23 pmI agree with Pheidole for the first queens.
