Can two omninests be connected with tubing without using the out world as a connector? In other words, can two omninests be connected directly to each other?

of Course!
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.

The hybrid nest just costs more (the complete setup kits). But it also looks so much better

The outworld that comes with the All-You-Need Hybrid pack is what makes the Hybrid kit more expensive than the Omni kit. We had hoped to keep them closer in price, but have not been able to due mainly to that. With new Hybrids coming out within the next few months, along with new outworlds for them, we may be able to level the field a bit as far as pricing goes. We will have to wait and see how it all turns out.

Why would you need a nest for nuptial flight, you need to take care of your queen in a test tube setup for months before you can move them to a formicarium cuz in the most cases it's a lot better to her to gain brood/workers in the tube

Our best guess at this point is June/July.
