I think i caught a Lasius Claviger.
7mm in length
Redish hue to the entire body
Maryland - Frederick
Difficult time with the condensation near the *** SPAM *** to get the pictures, she wouldn't leave it!

Also think it's lasius, but don't think it's lasius latipes, latipes have a first thick legs, on the img queen don't have thick legs

A blunt petiolar scale is what differentiates Lasius latipes from Lasius claviger. Lasius latipes has alpha and beta form queens, with the alpha form having the robust legs.jsCoder wrote:Also think it's lasius, but don't think it's lasius latipes, latipes have a first thick legs, on the img queen don't have thick legs

Pictures of the profile of the petiole are important, in this case.

Think i need.. More light!
Hopefully those will get us a clear understanding. If not, i am currently fine with knowing she is a Lasius Social parasite that is either Latipes or Claviger.

Aha! Thank you!
