Re: Finding carpenter ant queens
When searching for carpenter ant Queens, typically you want to look in a place such as a nature trail that is near a body of water. Carpenter ant colonies like to set up nest locations near these types of places and you will often find Queens fresh out of there nuptial flight along these trails.
As always, wishing you well on your exciting ant adventure, Ants the Lowcountry.

Re: Finding carpenter ant queens
I found one in my garage and another on a fence post by a swimming pool. There was even one crawling in my basement! So you can literally find them anywhere. Even indoors. (It's especially important to catch them then. )
"God made every kind of wild beasts and every kind of livestock and every kind of creeping things;" (including ants) "and God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:25
