I am still completely new to all of this, but I think Pheidole is it's own genus. If you were asking about the subfamily, then they belong to the Myrmicinae group which includes Tertamorium, Trachymyrmex, Crematogaster and Solenopsis (whereas Lasius and Camponotus belong to Formicinae subfamily).

I hope that helps. But then again, I can't tell a Camponotus from a Lasius from a Formica. 😓 Any large ant, I'll automatically think Camponotus. So I probably just discredited myself. 😂 But we're all learning and I'm sure someone will correct me if I'm wrong.
Caring for Camponotus laevigatus (Queen #1) and Camponotus modoc (Queens #2 and #3).
