I don’t know if anyone would be interested in this but, I thought I would each week ask why you liked a genus of ant.
This weeks will be Camponotus.
I like Camponotus because they are large, polymorphic ants.
Why do you like this genus?

Why keep ants that aren't found in your yard?
There are so many fascinating ants right where you live!
I disagree with the keeping/buying of ants that aren't in your area.

I can stick em in the fridge for a couple weeks and forget about of them is kinda nice…. Also Camponotus in my area grow fairly fast, reaching 100+ in a year or two.(Some 1k in a year)antperson24 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 17, 2022 1:14 pmI don’t know if anyone would be interested in this but, I thought I would each week ask why you liked a genus of ant.

I like Camponotus because there are thousands or unique species and how much variety of sizes, colours etc. They also eat just about anything.

Quite honestly, I don’t. Annoying ants that I keep that escape and fight with my Pheidole colony. Also, small species sting honestly packs a punch for a small sizeantperson24 wrote: ↑Sat Sep 24, 2022 8:27 amThis weeks will be Tetramorium.

Re: Why do you like this genus?
I only ever kept T. lanuginosum and T. bicarinatum before, both semi-claustral and both colonies didn't last very long, although I still like them due to how fast they grow but not for their habit of trashing their test tube and digging into the cotton. I still want to keep them again though.
