Don’t cause vibrations to the tube. Most Camponotus can found in light, and a matter of the fact, Tar Heel ants founds all its Camponotus queens in light

As carpenter ants are fully claustral she won’t need food until her first workers arrive. To keep her from over stressing only check on her about once a week. I don’t know much about c. Modoc though, so, for better info you can search for care sheets. Sorry I couldn’t be so helpful.

Camponotus can be kept in regular light, with a little cover. This is actually how companies like Tar Heel Ants raise theirs. Camponotus also can take a bit of time to lay eggs, so be patient. I had a queen that took 3 weeks to lay eggs…

It depends on the queen, I also have a closely related species of the one that took three weeks that took 4-5 days.
