Hi everyone. Im looking for the right ant species for me. I am wondering what ants burrow, and are good for beginners. I am thinking myrmica, however I do not like the fact that they grow EXTREMELY fast, and I dont want to take up so much space and cost so much money to buy formicariums for.
I am thinking camponatus, however my parents do not like the idea that if they escape they will break out house :/
Any other good beginner burrowing species?
Thanks for your help

Well almost all ants burrow, so I would suggest camponotus. Oh and you can tell your parents that one of the ant nerds on the ant forum said that carpenter ants won't brake the house, if anything they would just die of dehydration.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
