So, today I was walking home from school, and saw a queen ant! So exciting! I ran home as fast as I could to get a test tube, and ran back.
Oh well, it's not there. I turn around, and it's there on the ground.
I spend 2 or 3 minutes trying to get the little guy, er, girl, when I notice something really peculiar. It's tailside was pointy. I stop for a second, and look a little closer. That's when I realized it was a bee.
Of course, it could have been a peculiarly shaped winged queen, or an unusually colorful male, but it was obviously a wasp (Yeah, I looked up pictures of bees and wasps later), kinda disappointing, but I'm just glad I wasn't stung.
Well that's disappointing

Must have been a really tiny wasp.

It was pretty tiny. I thought it was a somewhat large queen ant, but I was mainly looking at her thorax.

Males look a lot like wasps.
So you could have found a drone. Don't give up then! Where there are males, queens must be around too!
