Michael A wannabe Ant Pro

Hi I'm Michael. from the philippines I'm a wannabe Ant Pro
I'm 14 turning 15 in November 12. i only have 2 queen both don't have workers and also both queens is a Fire ant (solenopsis geminata) both have great amount of brood but the first queen I caught keep eating her eggs I wonder why. any Advice

Good luck with Solenopsis geminata... The Solenopsis xyloni here in California are a handful, I cannot imagine a tropical species!

Michael, don't forget to look up the Philippine Ants & Myrmecology Society on Facebook. Join the group. There are a lot of ant enthusiasts there from Philippines, plus our very own taxonomist and curator of the Philippine Antweb page David General is a member there. He is super helpful!

This species is really hard to keep, but you can do it! you are probably looking at her too often, that stresses her out. put her in the dark and don't look at her more than once a week. Congradulations!!
