G'day!

Like most folks in this section, I am new to ant keeping.
I am looking forwards watching my ant farm grow and also into designing their own little world.

I went for a stroll the yesterday and stumbled across this:

Is it a queen and do you have any idea what type of ant it may be?

I suspect it could be a Ochetellus glaber.

Thanks!

Yes I would say that is a queen, what species I'm not sure. Identifying them isn't something I'm good at.

This might help---> http://www.ozanimals.com/wildlife/Insect/Ants.html

Welcome to the forums! Beautiful queen. Unfortunately I'm also not so good at identifying species.

Maybe but there are a few similar species.
Can you make a closer picture?

Hi, that queen looks identical to mine and I have 9 of those which have laid eggs and some have grown into small colonies. I call them Iridomyrmex but I did some research myself and it looks like they are just about the same ant as the species you called them.
