Not from Arizona nor the US but still, welcome on the forum. Let us know if you have any questions.
Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.

So turns out Arizona has honeypot ants (Myrmecocystus Mendax) but they are most common in the south as they prefer dry environments, such as desert, but I live in a juniper-pinion-pine forest, and its less dryLaniLyne0106 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:31 amI think there is, I’d have to do more research to be sure (haha, I just moved from Florida)SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 6:49 amWelcome, do you have honeypot ants in Arizona?(I am in Florida)

Nice. What other ants do you have up there? Any fire ants? I think you have S. Xyloni, a native spieces of fire ants, but what about S. invicta?LaniLyne0106 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 2:11 pmSo turns out Arizona has honeypot ants (Myrmecocystus Mendax) but they are most common in the south as they prefer dry environments, such as desert, but I live in a juniper-pinion-pine forest, and its less dryLaniLyne0106 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 9:31 amI think there is, I’d have to do more research to be sure (haha, I just moved from Florida)SolenopsisKeeper wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 6:49 amWelcome, do you have honeypot ants in Arizona?(I am in Florida)

@solenopsisKeeper
I actually had found (what I believe to be) s. Invicta, but I’m not too sure on the Id
I also found on my property what I believe to be some sort of camponotus, whether it’s c.Vicinus, or c.Sansabeanus I’m not sure

The most accurate way to determine between S. invicta and S. xyloni(native) is to put them under a microscope. S. invicta will have a middle tooth, S. xyloni and S. Germineta will not. A educated guess way is to look at a queen. Invicta will have a variety of reds and browns and xyloni will be a solid color on the thorax.LaniLyne0106 wrote: ↑Mon Dec 13, 2021 11:08 pm@solenopsisKeeper

That is how I guesstimated my Solenopsis colony, and they are most common in Florida.
