queen identification
Hey all, I am really green in terms of ant keeping. This is my first year attempting to start a colony to watch grow and flourish. I am just curious, is there any books, guides or online resources that can help a newbie identify the ant species and help me to identify wether ants are workers supermajors or queens. The camponotus pennsylvanicus queens are easy enough to spot, which are pretty common where I am at. As for the other ant species I am running into, I can not for the life of me tell what species it is and wether they are queens or not. All help is greatly appreciated and many thanks in advance.
Re: queen identification
You can find a lot of stuff like that on youtube.
My current colonies:
-Miniature Military(formica neogagates)
-Black Hearts(crematogaster cerasi)
In search of new camponotus colony
[Have a look at antmaps.org]
