Hey guys, been watching the channel for a while and though id finally register on the forums since it was Nuptial flight time. Had a basic ant farm since January with around 50+ ants and only had about 5 deaths so they are still going strong. Pus been out and about the last two days catching queens. Caught 3 today and one yesterday but she had wings and was a little closer to a nest than I really liked. Resisted the urge to grab every one I saw as the conditions the last few days have been just right.
Photo is a bit rubbish but I didn't want to disturb them for to long.

Lasius Niger, its just the common black ant for my region, we don't get many species around here. In saying that though I did see a particularly big major while hunting for queens that looked very similar though was a dark shade of green

Thought id update on the queens. Winged one is trying to get out so think ill release her. Two of the others i caught are already laying and tending eggs which I didnt expect so soon so let the palpitations commence
