Hi not sure if I posted a introduction before, just wanted to say hi to everyone, I'm James Hanvey and I am a hobbyist PC game developer and long time ant enthusiast. I am also an artist and although I haven't started keeping ants yet, I plan on doing so once I get my own place. I also plan on making a PC game about ants, anyone got any opinions on what it should be like as far as gameplay and genre? :geek:

Welcome James,
make yourself comfortable. we are all very nice and helpful so any questions will definitely be answered here.

Dont mind the bots as there are a lot these days.

also, it will be pretty rare to catch any queens as it is almost time for hibernation.
anyway have fun

Thank you for the warm welcome. I will definitely try to make myself comfortable. As for the advice, I did already know that I was planning on trying to find a queen sometime in the spring. But first I need to find myself a place to live that'll allow pet ants. I may have a difficult time finding a place that does, as they are almost automatically considered pests, with a track record to match. I also want to make a PC game with ants in it, if anyone has any suggestions or opinions I am all ears.

Here are some of the most interesting species (in my opinion) from around the world that would be great for a video game. And also, I am also going to throw in a few common ones as well.

Odontomachus sp. (trap jaw ants)
Carebara diversa (asian marauder ants)
Oecothylla smaragdina (asian weaver ants)
Atta/Acromyrmex sp. (leafcutter ants)
Solenopsis geminata/invicta (fire ants)
Myrmecosystus sp. (honeypot ants)
Cephalotes atratus (turtle ants)
Paraponera clavita (bullet ants)
Anoplolepis gracilipes (yellow crazy ants)
Paraterchina longicornis (back crazy ants)
Pogonomyrmex sp. (harvester ants)
Camponotus pennsylvanicus (black carpenter ants)
Lasius neoniger (labor day ants)
Tetramorium immigrans (pavement ants)
Formica fusca (field ants)
"God made every kind of wild beasts and every kind of livestock and every kind of creeping things;" (including ants) "and God saw that it was good." Genesis 1:25

Hi,

I love playing ant games, I am somewhat addicted to it. Welcome you develop new ant games for fun loving people like me.
however I would like if you can incorporate the species Paraterchina longicornis (back crazy ants) in your new video game.

best of luck.
