Ants In Massachusetts. When do I catch them?

I have gone outside every time after a rainstorm passed, one or two days ago. I have found only but, 2 queen ants, both Camponotus pennsylvanicus. One of them had died and the other keeps eating her eggs. What do I do? Please help! I need to find other queen ants but I have no Idea where or when to look. I am stunned. I hope that this group of honorable people will help me and my crisis. Thanks! #Antloveforever :D

are you checking on your queens to much? this could be the reason she is stressed. if not try to keep her in the dark.

also i would try to look like 5 minuets every day. "CONSTANT VIGILANCE" according to mad-eye-moody in harry potter, and he is right when trying to find queens. try searching a little bit every day.

Sometimes queens will lay trophic eggs just for eating. This is a sign the the queen may not be fertilized.
An ants' strength can be rivaled by few animals compared to relative body size.

Camponotus are super suceptible to stress, so honestly the best thing you can do is leave her alone for a few weeks (not even a peek) and then see her progress
Proverbs 6:6-8

Go to the ant, you sluggard;
consider its ways and be wise!
It has no commander,
no overseer or ruler,
yet it stores its provisions in summer
and gathers its food at harvest.
