Heating question
Hello, I’m keeping a c.novaeboracensis queen. She has had eggs for 4 weeks now and I read something that said eggs turn to larva in anywhere from 20-30 days after being laid. So to make sure that the eggs do so I wanted to heat the queen to the right temperature.(which is 24-27 c.) so would buying a red heating light disturb the queen?

Re: Heating question
I don't know if a red heating light would disturb the queen but I would say that the red glass might heat up too much and break rather quick. But I am no expert and perhaps it exists and works well.
I recommend using a heating mat. That should works well enough to give your ants some heat. But don't cover the whole setup since the ants might need to cool off too.

Doing some proper research is the best way to start an antcolony.
