Myrmica Rubra

Hello all I am new to the channel and to ant keeping. I have been keeping ants for about 6 months now and have various colonies such as messor barburus, a multi queen flavus colony, and the common black ant. Hopefully you can help I am getting a multi queen myrmica rubra colony with 1000 plus workers and have a 25l tank as an outworld. I would love to keep them open top and would like to know for a prevention barrier if vaseline ( petroleum jelly) would be suffice as I know they are very good escape artists or if I would need another type of barrier to keep them from doing that. All help would be appreciated. Thx

That should work, just keep an eye on them and if it doesn't you can also try baby powder mixed with rubbing alcohol. If none of that doesn't work you can also buy PTFE.
