How much space do I need in the test tube?

I was wondering how much space in the test tube I should give my queen? Right now I have about 1 in. of space for my camponotus spp. and was wondering if that was sufficient.

I usually give them half the test tube. They’re not going to want to be at the end of the test tube, especially if you’re taking the cotton out and putting food in there.
